Guitar Cancellation

Hi All,

Ugh, I need some advise...

I had place an order and was so close to having a new flamenco guitar built for me!

About THREE weeks ago (part time job) I lost my job due to this bad economy.

Long story short, today, I canceled my flamenco guitar order

I was so looking forward to having it built and hopefully having it by the end of Summer early September...

So, now I am stuck with my Takamine CP132-SC!

The guitar is an accoustic/electric classical guitar and it is a single cutaway and has a trust rod through the neck.

Accoustic wise this takamine SUCKS. There is too much bass and not enough mid range or treble.

However, I am wondering if I get the pick ups fixed and run the guitar through my mixerboard with no EFFECTS, maybe I could EQ the more mid range and terrible sound...The guitar does have a 5 band EQ

I was also thinking of getting the bridge lowered and put a taping plate?

By the way, I did have a Student Navarro Flamenco Guitar that I sold for $600.00, so, I am familar somewhat with flamenco guitars.

I hope I can get another job soon..Save up for my hand made flamenco guitar...

Until then I guess, I'll have to put up with the takamine..

Again, any advise on how to make this takamine work for flamenco would be cool.

Hey Kalo,

Sorry to hear that you lost your job, hopefully something better will be around the corner. It often is.

Try and take the extra time you have now to improve your playing. The better your playing gets, the greater your ability will be to choose a nice guitar in the future.

The problem though is I hope I can improve more on that Takamine CP132SC

Acoustically it doesn't sound flamenco!!!

I guess it is better than not having a guitar to play on...

Like I said hopefully lowering the bridge and fixing EQ mite get me through until I get a job and can go back to ordering my guitar...

Hello Kalo, sorry to hear about this unfortunate turn of events.

You can reach a certain amount of accomplishment with the guitar you have – I did the same thing for a few years – but you will find that you can go no further without a proper flamenco guitar. I used to have a Guild slim classical with a preamp, it sounded really good actually, and had a low action, so I added a tap plate to it. But then when I began studying with my first teacher, Patricio Tito, back in 1997, I played his Francisco Barba model and immediately thought, "Oh, now I understand!" So I ordered one from Francisco immediately... it's the guitar in my avatar.

So it sounds like you will have to "tolerate" your Takamine until you can afford a new guitar. But you should also consider a used model, you could potentially get a great guitar for less. A friend of mine did that, but she was able to play it before buying it.
