Getting rid of callus

Any advice as to the best way to get rid of callus or dead skin on finger tips? Thanks.

Hi frhout, why would you want to do that? callus makes it easy and painless to fret the guitar. Do you remember when you first started playing that your fingers were sore after practice? probably due to no callus being formed yet.

Are the callus on the fingers of your fretting hand (left)? simply stop playing the guitar and they will go away. You can even try applying hand lotion several times a day.

Thanks Tom

It's just that the skin is getting thicker and thicker. Yes, the best way is to ignore it.

I check my fingers and I hardly have any callus. I play/practice about an hour a day and I'm conciously not to fret too hard (according to all the info I get).
Is this a good sign for me?
I'd like to know what others think.

Hi Frout,

The easyest way is to file it down a bit, and polish it, just like your nails.

Peter
