Sounds like a great time. I really wanted to go, but I didn't know about the show soon enough to plan a trip to Vancouver (from Kelowna).

I went to see this one as well. I have to say that the dancer was the highlight for me too and I'm a guitar player so I don't think you're overly biased. As much as I'm a huge fan of Paco I would say that the show was about par with Paco Penas show that I saw a while back. This is just because Paco's shows are starting to lean more heavily towards the jazz side than flamenco. Considering this was the final night of the Vancouver Jazz Festival it's completely understandable. I really like the jazz influences to a certain degree but during this show I felt that the flamenco was a little bit obscured. I actually really liked the bass and like in flamenco generally but for me the keyboards don't really work. The dancer on the other hand really brought out that familiar pulse and gave it more of a flamenco feel to me which I loved.

I was also surprised how long they played. By the end of the show you could see Paco rubbing his hand every once in a while. They came out for an encore (entre dos aguas) but it seemed like he couldn't wait to finally be finished.

Cheers
