Can you help me design the perfect g...

Dear Foroflamenco,

I am a rank amateur, and I'm interested in building a flamenco guitar for my own use. Of note, I'm a hobbyist guitar-builder and I plan to stay that way. However, if this idea takes off, I may present it to my maestro to expand his product line.

Due to work, I have to fly regularly.
I'm thinking of building a full-sized flamenco guitar that can tuck under the seat in front of me. It will probably be based off of the Blackshear plans.

Any thoughts/additions/comments?

I'd love your thoughts as players/luthiers.
There's so much about flamenco that I'm just starting to learn!

-Matt

ps. I'll post pics if I ever get around to building it. I'm working on a conventional guitar under my maestro at the moment.

Sorry, been busy with interviews.

I could probably do that...but I doubt that it'd cover my hourly rate for my day job .

1. All joking aside, Mauro Marchesi (sp) on mimf made a guitar that functions similarly. However, his version is far more beautiful and easier to hold.

2. For the guitar to not sound like a "block of wood" it'll depend on the quality of the wood. It can also be augmented by chambering the body/neck to create a small resonant pocket. Personally, if I were to do it, I'd use old-growth redwood or Port Orford Cedar for the neck.

But seriously...something so ugly is ideal?

Les Paul designed a hinged travel guitar I think.

Why don't you just get a six-string ukelele? Yamaha makes a nice one for $99. . .

Is the 1F Arce the one you normally take when flying? And you slide it under the seat in front of you?

Let me emphasize that I'm interested in *building* it, not buying it.
The thing doesn't have to be in production, or even exist yet!
