- and taking it literally, doing things "by the book". Not his fault if the girls are in the wrong place. (They must be as wasted as he is!)

So it's true?... My German friend Hans who lives here says the same thing...he also says they love rules and regulations and will readily confront anyone contravening them without leaving it to the Police...(I wasn't sure if he was just being funny or what )

Some fine looking Damsels in those photos, Kozz!

cheers,

Ron

RE: Oktoberfest (in reply to Doitsujin

Hi Doit,

Actually the only time I've ever been in Germany was when I was going to Denmark.

We had to change trains at Hamburg.

The train was due into Hamburg at 21:10....and at 21:09:57 the train finally came to a halt at Hamburg station.

I gotta admit, I was impressed!

Also, we had an hour to kill so went for a beer....it was draught, out of the barrel..and I must admit, it was the best beer I'd tasted in a very long time!

(I get the feeling though, from what my friend says, that you could get life imprisonment for throwing a used bus ticket away in the street.. )

cheers,

Ron

RE: Oktoberfest (in reply to Ron.M

The bar snacks at the festival are the best - whole roast chicken. I got through two in a long night and 4 steins (which I think is about 8 litres) of beer.. might have been more, by which time the Bavarian oompah band sounds like it's playing disco. Rough the next day for sure

WOOF!

RE: Oktoberfest (in reply to kozz

Yes, the beer is great... and cheap! But in the big glasses you see at the Oktoberfest is not real beer. It has less alcohol..its somehow a soft-beer... Ah and a nice thing! They forbid smoking in the tents! :-)

Well,... here in my area the trains are already 30mins late when a leaf drops on the rails...

.. I have to admit that the Oktoberfest happens in a part of Germany which we dont really count to Germany. They speak weird German there you know.. and wear this strange clothings....

P.S. MAN! If you would know how many hard jokes I deleted from this post that you will never see!! Just to hard for the foro.... :./ Damn it!

That's really interesting, Deniz..

The guy is about 73 or something, so I guess it was OK in his day...

Names definitely go out of fashion for sure...

Names like Hector or Cecil or Perry etc would certainly take a hammering here in the UK at this point in time!

cheers,

Ron

RE: Oktoberfest (in reply to kozz

Long years ago my wife-to-be and her college room mate were in Munich as part of a 14 countries in 6 weeks tour of Europe. They are both good looking blondes, and they had brought their dirndl dresses with them. At the Hofbräuhaus they persuaded a couple of waitresses to let them take armloads of beer steins to a table of nice looking German lads. The lads immediately addressed them in English.

"How did you know we weren't German?" the girls asked.

"You don't have big enough muscles in your arms to be waitresses at the Hofbräuhaus," the lads replied.
