Campeones!

Kudos to Spain, they played great for the last two or three games.

I must say though, that the the Dutch should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Their playing was diabolical and the ungracious and unsporting spirit in which they lost was even worse. Tut Tut....

So Spain have won Wimbledon, The World Cup and it looks like Le Tour may be won be a Spaniard.

Pulpo Paulo is wondering what all the excitement is about, since he already knew the result last week.
He will be made a Saint in Spain, I'm sure.

Pretty rough game!
I think a lot of players are gonna wake up pretty black and blue this morning.

Overall though, I thought it was a game worthy of a World Cup final and a terrific goal by Spain at the end.

BTW..I didn't know Don Corleone was the Spain Manager..

cheers,

Ron

They could do with cheering up, with the economy the way it is. Very disappointing Dutch performance. No beauty in their game nowadays. Spain worked really hard and deserved the win but the whole competition was very odd and short on memorable games.

Yes , this year it was a little boring (in general).
Don't know, but i was a lot more excited in the recent world cups.

Congrats Spain, they deserved it.
And Holland . They deserved 2 red cards.
This is football and not Fight Club.

¡Champiñones! Looked to me like both sides played very well right down to the end, but I should say that I don't really follow or understand football, so I'm glad to see confirmation of what looked to me like unfair play (to say the least: I think everyone felt that boot in the chest). The same thing turned me off in 94, the last time I got interested, when Tassotti broke Luis Enrique's nose with an elbow shot.

Anyway, without understanding much, it looked to me like both teams had excellent defense but Spain was better offensively. An exciting win for sure.

The local production, the broadcast, the expectation over here in the streets and the ensuing celebration were a pleasure to see. About 30 minutes after the match, nearly all the players were still holding back tears during interviews, and the captain even planted a big kiss right on the mouth of the reporter (his girlfriend, who had been accused of influencing him). I had to laugh, a few of the players' mothers were even interviewed so it looked like one big family. Couldn't have happened at a better time.

Spain won due to fantastic theater playing, and the referee wasn't exactly linear in his way of pointing yellow cards.
It was even visable on the faces of the spanish players, not real happiness.

All by all, a boring game, I can't understand how a referee can spoil the game by blowing his wistle every 20 seconds.
Germany - Uruguay was a fantastic game.
To bad it had to be this way, the final match would have deserved a better game.

Hopefully in the future the video will play an important role in decissions, and it should also function as a way to ban the theatrical players.
I am not a huge football fan, and all this reminds me why.
