Hi Ecotts

Not sure if you want to set up you guitar by lowering the bridge or you're just curious.

All guitars are different, so a good method to work out what's best for YOUR guitar may be to play an F on the first fret of the 6th string ( E bass). Play it hard and check for buzz. If it doesn't buzz you may be able to drop the height of the bridge a bit.

Once it starts to buzz a little when played hard it shouldn't buzz when played normally and then that's about as far as you can drop it.

I'd also be interested to know what other methods some of the other guys use.

If you lower the bridge, it is always good to use a new bone.
If you don't like it, you still have the previous one.
By having 3 or 4 bones, you can achieve 3 or for different setups, which is always good.
But perhaps you can have a very short bone and then build it up to the hight you want, using very thin layers.

If it is a spanish guitar, the height of a cigarette under the strings at the bridge. If it is a mexican guitar, a stack of 4 pesos.

Between soundboard and bottom of 6th string, 7 - 9mm

Some players are very religious with this others dont really care much.
