The slowest foro on the net?

Hi friends.

I´m loosing interest in the foroflamenco. I read less and I write less. This because the extreme slowliness is killing me. I havent got the the time or patience.
I´m also dead tired of having to copy all what I write before posting and very often having to re-post the same message 1 or 2 times..... Not to say all the times when I forgot to copy and the message disappears.
I´m not the only one, I know........

My internet is fast and everything else, including other forums, is working perfectly well.

Anders you sound really fed up. I couldn't get on to the Foro last night at all - just wouldn't load - so I do understand. And I routinely copy everything before pressing OK, so I can repost if it doesn't work.

But I couldn't leave here. I just practise some arpeggios while I'm waiting

Hi Anders, Point taken - I know what is causing it but the solution is a lot of time and work and we have a hold on vacations at work at the moment.

I'll see what I can do.

most of the time it works fine for me, but every now and then there's a bit of a sort of blip and it goes really slow or won't load or something.... i assumed it was my connection....

I have exactly the same problems as Anders.
I always save the "important" messages in my Editor (like the Challenge entries) before posting, just in case lol

But didn't want to complain, as all other things which were going on in the last weeks were so exciting and somehow compensated the "anger" about these technical issues. .
However, if you should find some free time Escribano, have a look at these issues as we have them since few years now,,,, but it's not that important.

if you're using firefox and you type out a long, lengthy comment, and try to post it only to lose the message through an error, hit alt+left arrow to bring you back a page and your post should be there. just a tip for anyone who had this happen to them.

I sort of think it's a bit much to complain. I mean we all get the Foro for free. What else do you guys get for nothing?

We get to do all these challenges and uploads and share experiences, advice, jokes. I'm addicted, and if I have to wait for my fix occasionally that's OK.

Simon - Are the issues related to the very frequent issues with the search system? For me that's easily the biggest problem the foro has (and has had for a while).

But then again, I don't experience the slowness over here!

I think Anders is just frustrated because no one on the foro knows how to pronounce "Brüel & Kjær"

I have had some issues myself and have lost entire posts. It can be a drag.

But, it is still worth the trouble becuase of the people here.

First of all, I think its ok to complain if you are able to do so in a civilized manner.

Second, I think that what I was writing was more like stating a fact: I read and write a lot less than I did before because of the slowliness of the foro and because of OLE messages and timeouts.

What I normally do when on foroflamenco is to read something else at the same time, but the result is very often that I end up reading something else and close foroflamenco..... I´m not the only one and its not a good sign.

I´m here because of the people and the activity of the foro, but I would be sad to see the foro slowly disappear because of tecnical issues.

Nah, Anders is right but the time it takes to sort this out is horrendous I am copying all the audio and video over to the US and then setting this forum up over there to avoid the timeouts. It's 5 Gig of data plus DNS changes so it will not be ready for a day or two.

It' not a problem with search - that sucked anyway. Use the Google option instead.

All I can say is that they are the most appropriate massages in a flamenco forum.

I think its no big deal. Yes, sometimes it slows down and shows an error instead of posting my typed message. But I can always click undo if I didnt copy my text and than I hit the send button again. In 90% of the cases it posts my message without any problem.
Its no problem for me that the foro is down sometimes. Its like an oldtimer! Always something broken but you love it.

I agree completely!

I haven't had any text disappearing anymore for about 6 months now.
Speed is still an issue, as is the search-function and the login-cookie ...

But who's complaining

PS: I was just going to post this when the foro shut down and my text disappeared ...

Everyone probably already knows this, but you can avoid "losing" your post by writing it in a separate document (Windows Notepad or similar) and then logging in, copying and pasting, posting your message and logging out. Sometimes the "undo" function (going back a page) won't recover your post, and this is a good way to avoid that.
