Arrebato Ensemble (Sydney Australia)

My teacher's group is having a little gig. Don't think he comes online much.

Details below:
Winners of the 2008 Musicoz Award for Best World Music Group

Winners of the 2008 Musicoz Award for Best World Music Group , Arrebato Ensemble, led by flamenco guitarist Greg Alfonzetti, are a diverse group of talented musicians who have worked together to develop original music with contemporary flamenco as the compositional and rhythmic driving force. This collaboration has created a passionately moving style of music with an intensely international flavour and appeal to many audiences from the flamenco aficionado to jazz and world music fans.

Composing songs about love and solitude, loss and sadness, fury and ecstasy, with considerable musical virtuosity amongst their ranks, the Arrebato Ensemble has collaborated over five years to make this exquisite innovative music.

Comprised of Greg Alfonzetti (flamenco guitar), Damian de Boos-Smith (cello, guitars and mandolin), Dave Ellis (double bass), Lloyd G (percussion) and Andrew Poniris (saxophones and harmonica), their music conveys many memorable solos and atmospheric moments. Arrebato rarely used Spanish word meaning sudden and intensive burst of emotion, a feeling of fury or ecstasy is apt in describing the ensemble original music composed by Greg Alfonzetti and Damien DeBoos-Smith.

I checked out his audios on their website...Ole ! very nice, my regards to your teacher..

I must admit when i first read the litlle write -up i thought...Oh no not another one of those "contemporary flamenco" things, sometimes they use those kind of descriptions to say its not flamenco..but it is and its beautiful..i like it very much..

does Robbie Vargas and Dave still play in Sidney ?
