quote:
I still think its a stupid name he gave me. Ohhh, you really shouldn't have told us about this... :-) Actually, there is a possibility that it has something to do with the word "conque." I haven't actually heard anyone say that word before, but according to the RAE and "Seco" dictionaries, it's colloquial and means two different things: (1) a condition under which something might be done or (2) the essence of a question. Maybe the old man sees you as someone who (1) always demands a favor for a favor, or (2) is normally focused on underlying truths, inevitable consequences, etc. If it's the second one, that's pretty cool! There's a story about how the singer Mazaco got his name. He apparently spent a short time doing unskilled labor for extra money (a day job). One day, he had to unload many heavy sacks from the back of a truck, but he wasn't feeling up to it that day. Every time he stopped for a rest, someone would say, "Hey, there are more sacks," to which he'd respond, "¡¿Más sacos?!" :-)
