Hola Kate "that this was a time when Gitanos were rounded up and used as unpaid forced labour on the big cortijos." I don´t think this statement is true, nor what Estela says in her book. The gitanos went to work willingly, were paid, albeit very badly and given somewhere to stay, though it might be no more than a barn without privacy or facilities. It was a way to survive in those days. Suerte Sean
