Encuentros?

Hi,

I was at the Jeronimo Maya course with John O and others, and people were talking about a set of teaching DVDs called (I think) Encuentros, done by v. good guitar players (I think Paco Peña and definitely Moraito, among others...)

Can't find em anywhere - have I got the wrong name or am I looking in the wrong places? It's payday and I want to get one quick, before the bills go out!

Cheers,

Jenny

Thanks! Flamenco World seems to be the cheapest so I'll go with that,

Paco Pena?
Paco Pena never did any teaching video as far as i know.

I would buy Moraito and Pepe Habichuela. these are the best imo. to learn falsetas

Chicuelo and Tomatito are also good. But more difficult.
Gerardo Nunez is nice but very difficult if you want to learn the falsetas. But good technique parts.
Merengue de Cordoba, Paco Serrano, Enrique de Melchor and Rafael Riqueni are ok but the other ones are definately better.

Yeah, realised he hadn't done one when I saw them - don't know where I got that from!

Thanks for the advice! - I think I'll start with Pepe habichuela and see how I get on,

EDIT REPRINT FROM AUDIO UPLOAD SECTION:
Thing about Nuñez, is you have a TOP player explaining techinique with short easier falsetas, and traditional falsetas too, for the first HOUR. Second hour is the hard material for advanced players. So more bang for the buck IMO. Most of the other vids are about an hour. Cante accomp. vid is 2 hours I think, but read my comments above. Most of the others are just the falsetas of which ever guy, so I would not say Habichuela or Morao is easier than Tomatito for example. All hard or easy deepending on how YOU approach learning.

Even if you are not at the level of the video, they are still worth getting. Many of us get them in part just to see one of our favorite guitarist playing up close for an hour or so.

by the way, I emailed encuentro a few months ago to ask about their next dvd. They said they are currently working on converting the existing library to dvd. But also that something "may" be in the works in the future. LOL. At leat they responded. That was nice of them.

Everything is translated in the book, which of course is not sold separate from the vid.
