please share your favorite non-flame...

Hi all,

...yes, I have to get away from flamenco sometimes for a variety of reasons, and I was amazed at the depth of John's shared link to the Holdsworth solos. As someone else said, he is not my cup of tea either, but I am amazed at some of his solos and like learning new 'tricks'.

This made me look through the Foro for a list of non-flamenco websites shared by all the guitarists' guitarists on our websites - the really connoisseurs in both music, information, and the web. The few Foro searches I put in returned nothing on this topic, but I'm sure there might be some pages I just can't find.

Please share your favorite non-flamenco websites with free and amazing NON-flamenco (blues, rock, jazz, country) lessons and analysis on theory, transcriptions, etc.

TIA,
Joe

Although I'm terribly depressed by playing alone flamenco, I do not study anything else.
But I listenned regularly to old things I missed.
At the moment I'm discovering Andy Timmons and I enjoy it.

When I was about 20 or so - I found an authentic flamenco teacher - Enrique Vargas. Primarily a rock and metal player at the time, Enrique asked me what I wanted to study with him. I said "oh - a little flamenco, some rock, some Al Dimeola". Enrique said "You can't study 'a little flamenco'. Yes, he was right - to reach the point of the advanced beginner/novice I am at now 35 years later, I had to dedicate all my time to flamenco. You are not alone.

Thanks joevidetto. Yes, it's a lonely journey for some of us. One of my Spanish teacher was here last summer with a singer, so I was able to learn to accompany the singing. Was great. He's coming back in May.
I'm in Jerez now. I just come back from the bar El pasaje where they have flamenco concert. Singer guitar and a dancer. It was good but not great. I learned a lot about Palmas following them and how they do it. Great exercise. It gives me ideas about how and what to work when coming back. One thing is the simple up and down when following the baile. Needs to be fast. Gonna work on that one.
