question on Strings

Hi all,

can anyone tell me the difference between Luthier 20 and Luthier 30 strings?

Based on your experience, Which one do you use for which scale of guitar?

Thanks

I can't find any data on string diameter, calculated tension, etc. If you have the two kinds, are the string diameters any different between each two trebles of the same kind?

Scale doesn’t matter, it’s all about action. Obviously the stiff action guitars need lighter tension (20s). Low buzzy action guitars or soft guitars need 30s. It’s a taste issue but high action or tension always gives more relative volume. As discussed, in my case volume is never a concern. Go with what feels comfortable is my opinion.

The pop 20’s are slightly higher tension than many “normal” tension brands. I measured the high e string and it was somewhere around .029-.030 inches. Versus the more typical .028. The Labella 820b also has a similar diameter to the pop 20.

That might give u a baseline
