Good book for technique practice/exe...

Does anyone know of a good book, website, etc. that gives exercises for flamenco technique? I've seen talk of a book by Pedro Sierra (Tablaturas Tecnicas de Guitarra), which looks perfect (I saw a sample) but they don't have it on Amazon and I don't speak Spanish so I don't want to try and buy it off a Spanish site.

Any good resources like this that I can add to my practice routine (still a beginner in flamenco)?

Some of the tabs are inaccurate so think of it as aural training :-) - but great material

Other than that I'd suggest Manual Granados hands down for technique workouts

There is also four or five graded type books by him which are excellent as he breaks down a handful of Palos in each book

Learning/transcribing and playing pieces usually contains enough juxtaposition of techniques so in some ways serves the same end as technical workouts ?

not a book, it's a cd. i think there were a few tabs for a couple of the exercises that you had to download.

Oscar Herrero put out 3 DVD volumes on technique

The whole cd was transcribed - by hand - with errors - as a digital book which you downloaded after the purchase of the disc - so an E-book seems accurate enough
Think there's a thread here somewhere with the corrections and some of the exercises in GP format
As good as the examples are the transcriptions are bit wanting - be great if he released it as a DVD in a well scored format
Still - not to difficult to work out what's going on

Ha - I can't unsee that now - he is a very cool guy in a nerdy sort of way
His PDF's and TEF are good but kinda wish he'd use a better program like musescore, Sibelius or Guitar Pro to make the fingerings a bit more detailed - still - the videos show make it clear enough

Don't forget Gerardo Nuñez. "La Guitarra Flamenca de Gerardo Nuñez" (Encuentro Productions).

There is a very nice section with all the techniques detailed and explained by Gerardo.

I bought the cd before the download tab was available, and when it became available it was only about 3 of the exercises, albeit those with more complex chords. I think some foro member/s transcribed some of the rest of it and posted it - or did i just make that up?

either way, I agree, a DVD would have been great. I often get as much if not more from watching HOW someone like Gerardo Nuñuz or Niño de Pura plays than from what they are playing.

I didn't mention as might be hard for complete beginner to pick up? But yeah, the first hour of Gerardo Encuentro is all tecnica and great stuff.

I suggested Herrero Paso a Paso as 1st 2 volumes are really basic, lots of explanation etc. for a starter.
