I think it sounds like whining.

It looks like an angry begging bowl. And it starts ranting about the reader asking for something for free. It has all the creative qualities of a Labour Party press release.

Cheers mate but, on reflection, I'll give the 'live music' a miss.

I sympathize with the general sentiment but this would/will do more damage than a classical guitarist playing Yesterday with broken nails.

Well, the point of this type of facebook poster is to point out that professional musicians sometimes have to justify their fee and it is annoying. Honestly things are worse these days. For the first time in 16 years of playing pro I got a call last summer from a venue owner telling me I came recommended so they could find a spot for me in their busy live music schedule. I would have to Pay THEM to play and bring my own crowd and pay for my own food and drinks and suff and had to Promise I would fill the place or I have to pay the loss. Any extra money from the door I would get to keep.

I laughed at her and she got super nervous. These club owners know DAMN well the way they are exploiting musicians these days and the idea that this is acceptable is spreading. Hobbyist amature musicians go along with it and drive the market down. It is sick.

Unfortunately this is how the Roxy, The Whiskey, and The Key Club work here in LA, at least since I was a teenager. I think most "rock" venues function on this format. You buy the tickets and if you sell em all great, if not, your loss. Not at all saying it's right but that's how it's worked for metal bands for years.....
