What happened to eami?? Is it for ol...

This post is inspired by RickM's post. Thanks Rick.
HolyEvil in that thread was talking about never using the 4 finger rasgueado, the same went for his teacher. I understand Gerardo as well never uses this rasgueado. Is it considered slightly "out dated"?? I use both pretty regularly but I know people that never use the 3 finger rasgueado. What are your guys's's's's feelings about this. What do you use and WHY! Does anyone know any other famous players habbits??

That specific combination can be used in various situations. I use it to play quintole in soleares (eamii), long chained rasgueado in seguiriyas or when i plan that last i to be the closing note of the rasgueado (and the first note of the next beat) like in fandangos, tangos but also seguiriyas.

Techniques are personal. The uses of each depend on the player. There were some old guys that used amii, amii, such as esteban de sanlucar. PDL and other modern guys still make use of pinky sometimes. I use it alot. It has nothing to do with old or new but rather trends i guess. 5 tuplet rasgueado is not used for dance as much as 4 or 6 groupings for sake of rhythmic drive. I wouldn't worry so much about it, it is neither disappearing nor a necessity to play flamenco of any period.

Nowadays I practice eami even on my knee because I found that it helps release muscle tension. Dont know why but thats what it does for me.

I use it all the time, except I like to play it : i e a m i e a m i + i (up).

( Very nice for old-style soleares. . .)
