Good luthier in Toronto area?

Any of you Foro guys in the Toronto area know of a good luthier who does repairs, etc.? Preferably one who knows Classical guitars. . .

Other than the guys at the Twelfth Fret (who take forever, and charge the earth) I don't know of any others. But surely there must be a few somewhere around in the area?

One of my guitars has developed a bit of a buzz on the G string, and I dont trust myself to try to fix it.

Anyone else? I'd also like to avoid 12th Fret.

Thanks for your help.

I remembered there was a well- known guy in Mississauga, just up the road from me, named Tony Karol. He builds quaility classicals and steel stringers, and is a very approachable guy. So I'll go and see him.

But I also found a website for a luthier supply house listing several other luthiers in the Ontario region, here:

http://www.luthiersupply.com/local_ontario.html

Might be usefull to some of us here in Ontario. . .

Please post how your repair works out. I might try the same person if it goes well.

In my experience, most good repair shops will have you waiting a few weeks which is pretty standard. Tony Karol is a great builder, and would be a good choice assuming he is taking repair work. I've also heard very good things about a guy named Brian Mascarin, although I have no personal experience with him.

Well, Tony Karol concluded the 'buzz' problem was more mine than the guitar, and I agreed. It was likely the change in humidity bringing the guitar back from Florida. A 'no-charge' consultation.

But he is a really good guy, and knows his stuff. However, he's into building high-end custom guitars, and has little time to undertake major repairs. However, he's quite willing to do minor stuff, set-ups, etc. etc.

He's located in the west end of Mississauga near Winston Churchill Blvd.

Check out his site: www.karol-guitars.com

Don't forget Robert England in the Mississagua (sp?) area.
He has what passes (vaguely) for a website but don't be put off - and a quick google will find him.
I have one of his classicals so I can vouch for his work if that's any good.
