The Mills Guitar Album was published back in the 1940's and has been long out-of-print; the book is in standard notation only.

I think Vicente Gomez deserves a bit more credit and recognition than what he gets these days.

He was probably one of the earliest guitarists to appear in several early Hollywood films playing flamenco, either as solo or as accompaniment. I particularly remember his playing in the film version of Hemingway's "The Snows of Kilimanjaro", in the classic cafe scene Madrid with Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner. For many years I tried to learn it from the soundtrack, only to discover recently that it was played by two guiitars, both played by Vicente, and overdubbed. . .

He played nice classical too. . .

The movie "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" is available free on the net.

My first recollection of Vicente Gomez is in the score of "The Captain from Castile" with Tyrone Power, Jean Peters, Jay Silverrheels et al. The only place I find it is on DVD for $12-14 or in a Tyrone Power DVD collection for $38. I would have been 9 or 10 years old when I saw the film, living in San Antonio, Texas or Oklahoma City--we moved at about the time it came out.

Gomez's playing made a big effect on me.

Vicente was my only other teacher after I studied with Mario Escudero. He was a very fine guitarist, classical as well as flamenco. He was also the warmest and most amiable man you could ever hope to meet, who was never without a great smile on his face.

He composed and played background music for seven or eight films, and actually appeared on screen in one, a terrific film – "Blood and Sand," with Rita Hayworth and Tyrone Power. In that film there is a café scene, and Vicente plays on screen a short but really nice Granadinas.

He cut numerous LPs, mostly for Decca, one of the best of which is "Rio Flamenco," with an excellent cantaor, Pepe Segundo. Highly recommended.

I think he also appeared in at least one other movie: the one where Jose Greco does a very acrobatic Farruca on the restaurant tables . The guitarist looked very much like Vicente to me??? Maybe I'm wrong?

And also in the cafe scene in "Snows of Kilimanjaro" he is briefly visible from the side and back when playing the opening phrases of "Granada Arabe".

No, that was not Vicente Gomez in that Jose Greco Farruca scene on YouTube. The guitarist is Jeronimo Villarino. He was from Huelva, and a contemporary of Manolo de Huelva.

He did however, wind up in Hollywood, and played in some films, one of them being "Around the World in Eighty Days," where that Farruca clip is taken from.
