Esperanza Fernandez and Ricardo in DC

I will be performing with Esperanza Fernandez as part of a lecture/demo about M. de Falla on Sunday Nov 27 4pm at the National Gallery of Art, 4th and Constitution, the East Auditorium. They will talk about Falla and his flamenco influences, and we will do an impromptu performance, probably good ol Solea/Siguiriya/Buleria, not sure just yet. This is FREE, so don't miss it anybody in DC area at that time. She has always been one of my favorite female cantaoras.

RE: Esperanza Fernandez and Ricardo ... (in reply to Ricardo

This is Esperanza Fernandez from Sevilla, the sister of guitarist, Paco Fernandez?
This is a big deal. Thanks for letting us know.
I may drive up for this.

Holy cow. How you get that gig? Good luck.

Chance....brook zern gave a lecture/viewing on my fav subject...Rito y Geografia....at the smithsonian. It was on a sunday afternoon free, so I showed up. I met brook and he said he heard about me from Norman (yes our Norman from the foro here) and asked if during the lecture I would demo some playing, which of course I did at the end. The director of the Orchestra happened to be there and saw me play, and later contacted me about his idea, since Esperanza will be singing the Falla stuff and there will be a similar lecture about the music in the same venue at the smithsonian.

In short, never turn down flamenco opportunities as you don't know what might come out of it. Always keep a guitar handy!
