Ichbin

I don't want to usurp Escribano's administrator position here, but I'm sure he would agree that it's the members decision on these matters.
To save heaps of responses I've made a simple poll.

Do we give Ichbin another chance?
Yes or No?

I've contacted him and explained that although we get into some heated discussions, we try to refrain from getting personal or swearing at each other as we've seen the damage that's occured on other Forums due to lack of civilty.

cheers

Ron

Ron;

Excellent! Thank you for your thoughtful action.

At least Simon can see how we feel towards the subject. The final decision is of course his.

I say let him in, if Simon's okay with it. He sounds like he has a lot to offer if he can be kept under control :).

He certainly wouldn't be the first person to come guns-blazing only to settle down and become a valued contributor.

Hey TK, holla at yo boy!!!

RE: Ichbin (in reply to Ron.M

I tend to shy away from discussions when they start to have less to do with flamenco. Nevertheless, I've given a yes vote for Ichbin. I think Ichbin has a lot to offer so let's encourage him to show us how it's done in Germany. Maybe he could say with his guitar what he has difficulty expressing with words. To me, that's where the 'real deal' is no matter where one lives in the world. I'm in this forum to share and learn what I can from everyone. I've always appreciated the hospitality here and the friendships that have developed over the years.

I voted too for the guy.

Only on the condition that he chances his name into "ich bin ein Berliner"

Peter.

I think i missed the heated discussion bit, but i do believe that everyone has a right to free speech....or something like that.

Its a shame if we disagree with each other that we cant agree to disagree...hey it all adds to the richness of life.

Anyhow i dont see any reason to ban a flamenco muso from this forum...though i didn't get a chance to see the posts.

So from here i give a yes.

cheers

Wow, I missed out on the action!

Anyway, I was actually going to appologize too, since my second post in Soleares was not really necessary. The quotes I pulled on Ichy, and things I said were certainly "button pushers" and I am not totally surprised of the response. No apology needed! I have been (I am not proud to say) known to get into some pretty ugly arguements too, so again sorry to Ich, and everyone else, for contributing to the drama. I usually get pretty passionate and strong footed about my views on compas ("perfect rhythm", right Ron!) so watch out for me in the future! Ha!

Anyway, I would have voted YES of course he should stay, but he is already cleared. Awesome! So its great you are sticking around here Ich/Pete2, glad to have you and hear what you have to say and play!

RE: Ichbin (in reply to Doitsujin

Welcome Doitsujin! (what does that mean?? )
Don't let me down now...
(Ichbintoll...remember..u'vebintolld )

Looking forward to hearing your mp3's etc.

Anyway, let's move on...

Today's Ondajerez had a piece from Capullo...a Soleares.

Man, everytime I see that guy he puts a smile on my face!
I love the strange rhythms he goes for...
Like this Soleares was like a Solea por Buleria, but wasn't....
It was more like a really slowed down Buleria.
But it wasn't a Buleria but definitely a Solea.

Antonio Jero was playing guitar and you could see he was having a lot of fun with the rhythm.

Capullo?

What can you say?

He's just got the "presence", he looks a bit like Bruce Springsteen and captivates the audience in the same way.

I love the way he "doubles up" on the lyrics, so it's practically like speaking rather than singing.

He's something else, is Capullo....

cheers

Ron

My vote was no. I'm all for forgiveness but there are certain things I find hard to forgive. Its one thing to act rude, its another to get reprimanded for it and respond with racism for it. While I wasn't the subject of it, Simon's mention of it bothers me. We are here to talk flamenco, its flamenco that is common to us all and unites us in this community. Someone who does not understand that, or takes it for what's its not requires a longer time to ponder and get it. Just my oppinion.

I like how this forum conducts itself in this situation.

Hi Guy

I understand what you say and I hope you are not right . But when I read the thread this morning I got a bit upset by this quote by ex Ichbintoll now Doitsujin:

"At first Im Sooooo happy that YOU ALL give me a second chance!!!"

As I can see on the votes. There are 2 NO's. but it seems that it does not bother Doitsujin.

Remember that democracy is not about being more than 50%. And that sometimes 2 is more than 20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So please take it easy. We should all read what Thomas wrote about Forums in the moderater thread. Because he's right.

I understand and appreciate your comments Guy and Anders.
Sometimes when we do something we know to be wrong we try to squirm out of it by attacking and just dig the hole even deeper...(unless you have the talent of my wife, who can break something or lose something and then convince me that it was really my fault. LOL! )

I say just let's see how it goes, and not over-analyze stuff and make D feel he's under any sort of trial or anything, but is part of a worlwide community of Flamenco friends.

cheers

You said it Ron. It was like watching the Rolling Stones at the Fiesta De Buleria last year. He's one of my faves and a world apart from other performers.

I sometimes wonder we try One cannot please all the people all the time. I have given way on votes where I was not in agreement. That is the pain of such things.

Forgiveness is important or anger never subsides. To be fair, Ichbin did admit he may have been in error, so let's not speak of it again unless someone gives us further cause.

just wanna say that I did vote yes and this because I feel this forum is strong enough to handle these things and because I'm sure that D has a lot to offer to the rest of us. I just felt that D's post was lacking respect towards the ones who voted no!!!

RE: Ichbin (in reply to Guest

Anders,

I am easy about it. When I voted it was around 9 to 1 so it was obvious where the vote was going, and I welcome what the foro decides. I made my vote and my comment cause I felt this issue, which has nothing to do with Flamenco, is too important to ignore.

I like this forum. I like reading the posts and I feel happy whenever I have something of my own to contribute. I think we have built ourselves a nice online community and this episode is but another demonstration of it. I am glad to be part of this community and look forward every day to reading the new posts. I hope this forum does not dissappear any time soon!

btw, ichbin sent me a private message and we are discussing the matter.

Guy,
I'm sorry that this issue over ich is dominating your life at present and I'm happy that he has emailed you to "discuss" it.
Come on man...the guy has already made a public apology!
And from what you have indicated ich has corresponded to you personally....
What more do you want amigo....?

I've got D's solea falseta playing as I write this.....

That gets to my head more than any PC issues frankly....

No offence, Guy, man, but let's get back on track here...

cheers

RE: Ichbin (in reply to Ron.M

I had a private discussion with Ichbin and he explained this was all a misunderstanding and some out of context remarks. I accepted his explanation. I am reversing my vote.
