PDL

I was watching a few videos by PDL and I notice that he puts something on his right fingertips especially when he gets into the rhythmical part of the rondena and also when he plays the minera going into fdh. Anybody have an idea as to what it could be?

It's some lubricant/moisturizer. Petroleum jelly of the sort. He keeps a dab of it on the side of his guitar's body where the neck meets the main body.

It makes him "feel" the strings better with his right hand.

There have been discussions of PDL and other well known players using Vaseline to lubricate their fingertips. It's especially useful for picado. In the videos I've seen of Paco he usually reaches his right hand over to the near the place where the heel and side come together. This is where he hides the Vaseline.

If you're gonna try Vaseline, make sure you use a VERY VERY SMALL amount of it.
It WILL coat and destroy your strings in a big hurry.

JG, i dont think you need any of that dude, your picado is DYNAMITE!!
I would kill to have your picado

Hasn't anybody ever tried Finger Ease? It works well on electric guitar and is very thin. Spray a little on your fingertips instead of the strings...

Thnx for the info everyone. I kind of figured it was something like that but wasn't sure. I probably won't experiment with it but interesting anyway. Todd, u have a pretty mean picado with the pick. I liked the tangos por rumbas improv thing u posted awhile back.

Thanks! I actually dropped the pick, and i'm now playing conventionally.

Definately check out my version of the Tomatito Alegrias from the Foro Advanced challenge after the scores are tally'd and the players identities are revealed! :)

My progress is going well, but it will be 20 years before i have a picado like yours. I'll be in adult diapers by then, and it wont matter hahaha
